Remote sites, and the
equipment they need

No loader on site changes which aircraft can come.

Drilling equipment, spares and crews move to airfields with short runways, no scheduled service and often no ground equipment. Loading a main deck needs a loader reaching around 5.6 metres, and remote strips rarely have one.

That points to ramp or nose loading aircraft that carry their own access. Elevation matters too: required runway length rises by 7 per cent for every 300 metres, plus 1 per cent per degree above standard temperature, so a hot high site narrows the field further.
