Environmental policy

Aviation is carbon intensive and brokerage will not change that. Fliteline's environmental policy, and the ISO 14001 certified system behind it.

Aviation is carbon intensive, chartering an aircraft is more carbon intensive per passenger than flying scheduled, and no amount of policy writing changes either fact. We would rather start there than open with a claim we cannot support.

What we can influence is narrower, and worth being specific about. Choosing an appropriately sized aircraft rather than the one most easily available. Avoiding empty positioning legs where routing allows. Consolidating cargo movements instead of running two flights. Advising a client that a scheduled service does the job when it does. Those decisions sit with a broker, they add up, and they are the part of the footprint we actually touch.

The certified system

Our environmental management system is certified to ISO 14001:2015 under certificate 2244105, issued by DEKRA Certification B.V., with a certified scope of organising custom air charter and flight support. We have held 14001 certification since October 2020. Certification means the system is externally audited rather than self declared, which is the distinction that matters when every company in the sector publishes an environmental statement.

Our commitments

Under that system we commit to:

  • —Review the environmental impact of our activities regularly, work to reduce our overall impact, and prevent waste using best available practice.
  • —Purchase products and services that do the least environmental damage, as far as is practicable.
  • —Sustain a programme of continual improvement in environmental performance, with suitable measurement and monitoring.
  • —Communicate our environmental commitment to clients and the public, and encourage them to support it.
  • —Work with key suppliers to develop environmental best practice and improve resource efficiency, including our use of water, energy and materials.

Sustainable aviation fuel, honestly

Clients increasingly ask about sustainable aviation fuel. It is available at a limited number of airports, it costs materially more than conventional jet fuel, and on charter work it usually has to be arranged through the operator rather than the broker. We will tell you whether it is genuinely available for your route and what it will add, rather than offering it as a default and quietly declining to price it.
